  Stay or leave your spouse after leaving JWs - Do you have regrets?

  i am in a situation that many of you have faced... whether to stay with my spouse or not after having learned the falsehood of the org.. my wife is diehard witness who gets upset whenever i talk about the org negatively.

  she is not happy that i am on jwd... in fact the other day she picked up the keyboard and wanted to throw it accros the room or bash me with it when she saw i was on jwd... she is also very upset about me making friends with "apostates" and worldly people, and told me never to bring them to our home!

  this concerns me, since i am not going to have any friends in the org, and i need at least a few friendships...she doesn't want me to talk to the friends in the cong about my decision so that i don't share my doubts.

  My other half is rather half-hearted as a dub so I'm hoping we can get through it. He's a fine man.

  i finally had to tell my active wife about it....the wt lesson is next week but she has not read it yet, and none of her friends have mentioned it to her.

  big buzz in 1995 when i was active, but hear very little except here now.

  OK, I'll take a guess! I haven't mentioned it to a soul since others who may also be lurking on apostate websites would think I read it here too. Sooooo.....since no one has mentioned it to me I can only assume they are in fact lurking here and are afraid of revealing themselves as apostates by discussing it beforehand!

  It's a possibility though, isn't it? Barely anyone was on the internet back in '95, now every man and his dog is.

  next weekend congregations around the world will be studying the wt article on the new definition of a "generation".. i would think there will be an epidemic of cognitive dissonance.

  this must be the first time there has been a change of doctrine on a singular topic twice in 13 years.

  for those still in like me, use the opportunity to get your partner thinking..

  Alex, I will be watching with interest next week. The overall mood in our hall is getting more and more depressed. We have a lot of young ones who are clearly going through some mental anguish. I just want to give them a hug and tell them it's OK.

  as you all know i was raised in a very prominent witness family in california .

  dad was , and still is an elder since 1953 !

  in my youth in the 1970's i did my share of sneaking around / yes, although being an elders son!

  i was raised in the troof and therefor never "chose" it.

  i find it really hard to get my head around why anyone would ever join this organization as an adult.

  Its almost like standing back and watching people run into a burning building or something.

  Spot on Dinah! That's exactly what it's like!

  Lurker, you made a good point. I'm sure they get many at a low point in their life. Or maybe shortly after having children when their perspective and concerns have shifted. I've noticed that often.

  Confession time! I was raised in the troof and therefor never "chose" it. I find it really hard to get my head around why anyone would ever join this organization as an adult. When I read about people becoming a JW at 20/30/40 I can't help a little part of me going "WTF? What were you thinking?!" To this day I don't know how they get a single adult to baptism. I think it's one of those things my head just can't compute.

  i have been following the work of the group "anonymous" who are campaigning to bring the cult of scientology under closer scrutiny.

  although i don't necessarily agree with all of their methods they have certainly been effective in attracting the media's attention which has in turn cast a spotlight on scientology.

  on the whole it seems that is something which has yet to happen to the wbts.. .
